History

Historical Description

Eendracht made a successful voyage to the Dutch East Indies under Captain Thomas de Beukelaar, and was returning to the Netherlands when she was lost somewhere between Batavia and the Cape of Good Hope in 1778. Captain de Beukelaar is recorded as having gone down with his ship, but it is possible that some of the crew survived the wreck and were subsequently rescued.

Painting of a Dutch East Indiaman off Hoorn before 1690.
